Vicksburg 1998 was a national event held at Raymond Mississippi
on the original battleground. The event was a campaign style event
which means that you march and fight along the way. The 1st and 7th
Arkansas together participated in several actions during the weekend and
marched about 6 miles. The end of our march carried us through the
streets of Raymond where large numbers of citizenrs came out and cheered
the road weary troops and brought out food and drink for us as we marched
by. Many reenactors have said that this moment was one of the most
emotional and moving they have experienced.
